About Us

Organization History

Founded in 2024 by Sarah Kovit Hanna, an autism mom frustrated by a broken system and the lack of resources needed for autistic children to be timely diagnosed and fully included in summer camps with neurotypical peers, The Positivity Spectrum is a place autism parents can turn to.

Our pilot program in partnership with the Akron Area YMCA in the summer of 2024 showed that with the right supports, autistic children can have an amazing summer. And working parents of autistic children now have another option for summer childcare that does not result in regression of the hard-earned skills our children work on throughout the school year.

Known in the autism community for our “Sensory Saturdays” fully inclusive weekend programming, The Positivity Spectrum has been blessed to work with community businesses to offer sensory friendly and accommodating opportunities for autism families to have fun.

Mission Inclusion is The Positivity Spectrum’s school-based inclusion program launched in March of 2025. In collaboration with Building Blocks Therapy, and armed with a secret agent theme, the program teaches children about autism in a fun an interactive manner. Students who complete the program, which includes a book to share with family and a pamphlet on how to talk about autism earn their Inclusion Agent badge!

Our Free Legal Clinic provides free IEP advocacy and Special Needs Trusts to local autism families.
