The Positivity Spectrum is proud to announce that we have officially received our 501(c)(3) status!
This achievement would not have been possible without the support of our dedicated volunteers, generous donors, and, of course, the children who have inspired us to create this nonprofit.
Executive Director and autism advocate, Sarah Kovit Hanna, played a pivotal role in founding The Positivity Spectrum. Reflecting on this milestone, she shared, “It makes all of the work, the planning, the late nights worth it. It legitimizes everything we know to be true about the needs in the autism community and that the government believes we are a valid and important part of the solution. Nonprofits are often the ones who lead the charge for changes impacting marginalized communities and I hope we can be that for the autism community.”
Ashleigh Holmes, a Board member, is hopeful that this new status will drive increased donations for the nonprofit. She stated, “Realizing 501(c)(3) status is a pivotal milestone for The Positivity Spectrum. We are optimistic that the officiality of our status as a nonprofit organization will bolster donations, thus enabling our organization to provide more autistic children with the life-changing experience of attending a fully inclusive summer camp!”
This year, The Positivity Spectrum is focused on several key initiatives, including the “Camp for Kids” program. This will be the first official year after the pilot of the camp. Board member and camp aide Justyce Caldwell was thrilled to learn about the 501(c)(3) status, adding, “It hasn’t really hit me yet that after everything, we are here.”
Another key focus is Mission Inclusion, and continuing to expand our partnerships with businesses for Sensory Saturday. Board member Jamie Runevitch shared, “Before volunteering with The Positivity Spectrum, autism was just a term I had heard. Now that I’ve gained a deeper understanding, I’m passionate about fostering a more inclusive world for people with autism and other neurodivergent individuals who may face similar challenges.”
The Positivity Spectrum is excited to continue and grow our cause, and we look forward to what 2025 will bring!
